What does it mean to hold integrity?
A definition is that you live in accordance with your deepest values, you’re honest, you’re incorruptible and you always keep your word.
For me and my work it also implies not compromising my authenticity and truth, to not sell my soul. Not for money, success, power, love, fame, popularity and so on.
Examples:
I recently was approached by a magazine that wanted to feature my story and invited me to a PodChat. I’m always keen to collaborate and share my story to empower and support others, if it is within my integrity. Before I agreed to an initial meeting I listened to the intro of the channel and was disappointed to hear that they are working with the moon energy. This meant a clear no for the collab for me.
I don’t work with moon energy because the moon we see is an artificial construct. The only work I do “with” the moon is to make sure I’m protected and not impacted or harvested by its negative frequency.
Many in the spiritual realm deny its true existence because they have not woken up to this yet, which is fair enough of course. Others work with the moon and hold circles and other events although they know of its negative energies. I understand that to some extent but what teacher, leader, healer or facilitator are you if you don’t show up in your truth and compromise your and other’s energy?
A few weeks later I was approached by a producer of a famous tv show and they wanted me to come on to support a group that had relational issues. I had never heard of the series because I haven’t watched tv for many years and choose wisely what I give my energy to. Grateful for the offer I declined. It didn’t feel congruent with who I am and what I do to go public and support people on live tv, knowing how things usually get misconstrued. Where is the trust, confidentiality and safety? I am not willing to compromise any of that for others or myself.
I could have become famous, increased the number of clients, gotten wider exposure, earned more money and so on. But at what cost? Every action has a consequence and the consequence I felt energetically for committing to something like this was not something that felt comfortable creating for me and others.
The above are only two examples of how I could have compromised my integrity. I could also present myself in sexy poses, outlining my feminine features and posing half naked in some yoga bends or film my circles and compromise the safety of its members to gain more visibility on social media and so on. It is something that we see way too often across the so-called “spiritual, conscious” community.
But what kind of practitioner and wayshower would that make me? Someone that you would trust because of the energy I hold and my skill set? Probably not.
Or I could write my posts, and content for the website, courses, workshops and circles with AI. Let artificial intelligence create my work. Do you think it would still be authentic, real, honest and within integrity? For me, it wouldn’t be and at the end of the day the only rules I follow are mine, and the soul I’d sell would also be mine. Plus: Social media is not real. But I’ll leave that for another post.
I am not writing this to point fingers, shame or judge. That action would create a consequence that is not in alignment with what I embody. I am only sharing my experience and what integrity is for me with the intention of creating clarity and support. What others do is not my business and I don’t care. We all have a choice and I respect the ones others make.
It is not always easy to live by our deepest values, being honest and incorruptible, and keeping our word. It takes courage, love, trust and discipline. We all go through it. You’re not alone.
Every action creates a consequence. Choose wisely.
Lots of love,
Anita
